Dear ALMS Community,
On behalf of the Albert Leonard Middle School PTA, we welcome you to the new school year! We hope that everyone had an enjoyable summer and is looking forward to a productive year. We invite you to join the PTA and encourage you to participate in school activities. PTA provides valuable opportunities for parents, teachers, and administrators to work together to provide a quality education and a safe and happy environment for all children.
On the first day of school, Wednesday, September 5th, PTA volunteers will be in front of the main entrance selling locker ladders ($20) and 2-packs of combination locks ($10), as well as ALMS shirts, hats, water bottles ($10 each) and car magnets ($5). PTA will assist staff in distributing student schedules in the gym and help students, especially incoming 6th graders navigating their first day of middle school. Please email us if you would like to volunteer.
Volunteers also will be on hand to accept PTA membership forms and dues. Your PTA membership can make a huge difference for ALMS, contributing to important enrichment events like the Science Festival and Family Math Night. We also fund the Teachers Grant Program, which brings additional resources and materials to classrooms, clubs and programs. Our fundraising supports monthly Principal’s Luncheons for upstanding students, field trips, grade-level events and the 8th grade graduation ceremony and party. PTA also sponsors a Staff Appreciation Holiday Breakfast and Spring Luncheon. Your PTA membership will keep you informed with regular emails about school events while helping make ALMS a better place.
Our first PTA meeting is Wednesday, October 17th at 7pm in the school library – please join us! These meetings feature information about school and district events, Principal Barnes’ report, Q&A sessions with members of the Board of Education, and guest speakers on topics like fostering kindness and understanding social media.
