Summer,​ ​2017

Dear​ ​ALMS​ ​Community,

On​ ​behalf​ ​of​ ​the​ ​ALMS​ ​PTA,​ we​ ​welcome​ ​you​ ​to​ ​the​ ​new​ ​school​ ​year!​ ​We​ ​hope​ ​that​ ​everyone had​ ​an​ ​enjoyable​ ​summer​ ​and​ ​is​ ​looking​ ​forward​ ​to​ ​a​ ​productive,​ ​fun​ ​year.

As​ ​always,​ ​PTA​ ​will​ ​be​ ​tailgating​ ​in​ ​front​ ​of​ ​the​ ​main​ ​entrance​ ​on​ ​the​ ​morning​ ​of​ ​the​ ​first​ ​day​ ​of school,​ ​September​ ​6th,​ ​and​ ​hope​ ​everyone​ ​will​ ​stop​ ​by.​ ​We​ ​will​ ​be​ ​selling​ ​favorite​ ​items​ ​such​ ​as locker​ ​ladders,​ ​locks​, ​and​ ​car​ ​magnets​ ​as​ ​well​ ​as​ ​new​ ​items​ ​for​ ​students​ ​and​ ​families​ ​to purchase​ ​in​ ​support​ ​of​ ​ALMS​ ​like​ ​hats,​ ​t-shirts,​ ​and water​ ​bottles​ (click here to see).

In​ ​addition,​ ​PTA​ ​volunteers​ ​will​ ​be​ ​on​ ​hand​ ​to​ ​assist​ ​staff​ ​and​ ​teachers​ ​in​ ​distributing​ ​schedules in​ ​the​ ​gym.​ ​Our​ ​parent​ ​volunteers​ ​will​ ​be​ ​there​ ​to​ ​help​ ​students,​ ​especially​ ​incoming​ ​6th graders,​ ​navigate​ ​their​ ​first​ ​day​ ​of​ ​middle​​ ​​school.​ ​Please​ ​email​ ​us​ ​if​ ​you​ ​would​ ​like​ ​to​ ​come​ ​and help​ ​out.

Finally,​ ​ALMS​ ​PTA​ ​Membership​ ​Committee​ ​will​ ​be​ ​on​ ​hand​ ​to​ ​accept​ ​membership​ ​forms​ ​and dues.​ ​​ ​As​ ​many​ ​of​ ​you​ ​already​ ​know,​​ ​​PTA​ ​parents,​ ​teachers,​ ​and​ ​administrators​ ​advocate​ ​for quality​ ​education,​ ​inclusion​, ​and​ ​a​ ​safe,​ ​happy,​ ​enriching​ ​environment​ ​for​ ​all​ ​of​ ​our​ ​children.​ ​​ ​As a​ ​member​ ​of​ ​ALMS​ ​PTA,​ ​one​ ​way​ ​your​ ​dues​ ​contribute​ ​to​ ​important​ ​enrichment​ ​is​ ​through​ ​our Teacher​ ​Grant​ ​Program​ ​which​ ​brings​ ​additional​ ​resources,​ ​programs​, ​and​ ​materials​ ​to​ ​teachers and​ ​staff​ ​in​ ​the​ ​classrooms​ ​and​ ​afterschool​ ​programs.​ ​PTA​ ​also​ ​contributes​ ​to​ ​the​ ​monthly Principal’s​ ​luncheon,​ ​special​ ​programs​ ​and​ ​assemblies,​ ​8th​ ​grade​ ​graduation,​ ​field​ ​trips,​ ​and grade-level​ ​special​ ​events​ ​as​ ​well​ ​as​ ​staff​ ​appreciation.​ ​Your​ ​membership​ ​also​ ​connects​ ​you​ ​to our​ ​bi-weekly​ ​newsletter​ ​which​ ​is​ ​full​ ​of​ ​information​ ​about​ ​events​ ​in​ ​our​ ​school​ ​and​ ​district.

ALMS​ ​PTA​ ​dues​ ​are​ ​$15.00​ ​per​ ​person.​ ​If​ ​you​ ​can’t​ ​join​ ​on​ ​the​ ​first​ ​day​ ​of​ ​school,​ ​you​ ​can​ ​sign up​ ​online​ HERE ​or​ ​by​ ​dropping off​ ​an​ ​envelope​ ​clearly​ ​marked​ ​ALMS​ ​PTA​ ​MEMBERSHIP​ ​with​ ​a​ ​check​ ​(made​ ​out​ ​to​ ​ALMS PTA)​ ​and​ ​your​ ​membership​ ​form​ ​in​ ​the​ ​mailbox​ ​in​ ​the​ ​main​ ​office.​ ​​ ​Beyond​ ​membership​ ​dues, we​ ​are​ ​always​ ​grateful​ ​for​ ​additional​ ​contributions​ ​throughout​ ​the​ ​year.​ ​Please​ ​look​ ​out​ ​for​ ​PTA requests​ ​for​ ​specific​ ​events​ ​or​​ ​​contact​ ​us​ ​about​ ​how​ ​you​ ​can​ ​make​ ​further​ ​donations.

If​ ​we​ ​miss​ ​you​ ​on​ ​the​ ​first​ ​day​ ​of​ ​school,​ ​we​ ​look​ ​forward​ ​to​ ​seeing​ ​you​ ​at​ ​Back​ ​to​ ​School​ ​Night on​ ​Monday,​ ​September​ ​18th​ ​and​ ​again​ ​on​ ​Co-curricular​ ​night​ ​on​ ​Wednesday,​ ​September​ ​27th. Following​ ​that,​ ​our​ ​first​ ​PTA​ ​meeting​ ​of​ ​the​ ​year​ ​will​ ​be​ ​on​ ​Wednesday,​ ​October​ ​11th​ ​at​ ​7pm​ ​in the​ ​library.​ ​We​ ​hope​ ​you​ ​will​ ​join​ ​us​ ​there​ ​to​ ​kick​ ​off​ ​the​ ​year​ ​and​ ​to​ ​learn​ ​about​ ​ALMS’s​ ​promise of​ ​inclusion​ ​for​ ​all​ ​children​ ​and​ ​ongoing​ ​commitment​ ​to​ ​STOMP​ ​Out​ ​Bullying!
