State Education Planning - Questions Raised
The New York State PTA has been working hard to lobby the Governor’s office on the parents perspective on 3 important issues that are being considered right now:
CALL TO ACTION - If you are interested in making your voice heard, the Westchester Putnam School Board Association (http://www.wpsba.org/) has set up a letter writing action center where you can address the Governor and the Legislators and inform them of your concerns on all aspects of funding and reform... WPSBA Legislative Advocacy take action - Send e-letters to Gov Cuomo and NYS Legislators:
- Reform Gov. Cuomo's Education Proposals in NYS Budget
- Eliminate the GEA and Restore our School Aid
- Release 2015-16 State Aid Runs
- Take Action to Review & Revise APPR Evaluation System
- WPSBA Toolkit: Eliminate GEA & Restore School Funding
- BOE Resolution Template: Cuomo 2015 Education Proposals
Please take the time in the next 10 DAYS to make your voice is heard. It makes a difference and time is of the essence as negotiations are underway.
Whether or not your child will be taking the test is a matter of personal choice, but please, invest the time to weigh in on the issues of this proposed reform as they can greatly change the state of our public schools with direct impact on the education of our children. Last, but NOT LEAST, if you make the decision of refusing the test, make sure to inform your principal and to communicate in writing your intention both for the test itself and for its make-up.
Taste of New Rochelle Was DELICIOUS
WOW!!! The food was just FABULOUS & the live band was AWESOME.
It was well-worth heading out yet again during a hectic season to enjoy truly delicious food, catching up with friends, & perhaps win an auction item or two?!? Who got the preemo parking spot for Graduation?
"Taste of New Rochelle" = all good stuff for our ALMS students:
- supports all sorts of after-shool activities
- funds caps & gowns for 8th graders that simply can't afford them
- fulfills a bunch of teacher grants
- so much more...
When heading out for a meal, please consider one of these eateries who generously donated to our event (click on the links for more info):

Dear Parents and Guardians,
On behalf of the ALMS PTA, we welcome everyone to Albert Leonard Middle School and wish all parents and students the best in the 2014-2015 school year.
We encourage all parents to become members of the ALMS PTA. Annual dues are $15 for one parent/guardian (or $25 for two) and include membership in district, state and national Parent-Teacher Associations. Your membership gives this advocacy group a stronger voice when lobbying for children and schools. The ALMS PTA portion of your dues helps support our students in many ways, including financing teachers grants, co-curricular clubs, and grade level activities including rec nights, graduation and class trips just to name a few!
Attending the monthly PTA meetings is one of the easiest ways to stay informed about what’s happening at ALMS. The administration is present at every meeting along with an informative guest speaker. We also encourage you to lend a hand in our many activities throughout the year. Parent participation is essential for having successful events such as our Magazine Drive, the Taste of New Rochelle, and the Staff Appreciation breakfast and luncheon.
